October 1, 2026 – San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office officials report that they have an update on the February murder of Avtar Singh of Tracy.
On September 30, we announced a significant update in the investigation into the kidnapping and murder of Avtar Singh.
Mr. Singh was kidnapped from the Tracy Gurdwara on February 17, 2026. Our investigators later determined that he was not the intended target. His body was located a few days later in a remote area at Lake Berryessa.
Following an extensive investigation, three individuals have been indicted in connection with his kidnapping and murder:
25-year-old Alberto Alonso Alencastro
20-year-old Alfonso Cresencio Segura Arellano
22-year-old Barnabe Antonio Segura Arellano
All three remain at large, and we need the public’s help locating them.
Please take a close look at their photographs. If you recognize them, know their whereabouts, or have information that could assist investigators, please contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.
