September 7, 2021 - The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Monument Fire for Tuesday.
Special Statement: A local Red Flag Warning is in effect from 10 am until 8 pm today for above-average temperatures, single-digit humidities, and brisk 20 to 25 mph west to southwest winds late this afternoon.
Fire: The fire environment is experiencing very a very unstable, hot, and dry atmosphere conducive to extreme fire behavior including crown fire runs and long-distance spotting. This type of fire behavior is expected where any uncontrolled perimeter aligns with afternoon winds. The Monument fire is 184,142 acres in size. The Knob fire is 2,414 acres and unchanged.
Smoke: The windy unstable atmosphere should help scour smoke and provide good to moderate air quality for the majority of the forecast area. Communities near active fires will continue to experience Unhealthy air quality today.
