September 7, 2021 - The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Dixie Fire for Tuesday.
Fire: The Dixie Fire is 917,579 acres, an increase of 5,084 acres since yesterday, with 58% Containment. High temperatures and low relative humidity will continue today and lead to active fire activity. The fire remains the most active around Lassen National Park, the Dixie Valley near the Beckwourth Complex, and in the southeast along the Escarpment and Highway 395. Interior pockets of the fire continue to burn and produce smoke.
Smoke: Weather patterns across the Dixie Fire will likely remain consistent for the rest of week and include high temperatures, low relative humidity, and lighter winds mostly west to southwest. In addition, continued mostly stagnant air with inversions harder to break and smoke harder to clear will remain today and through the week. Burney and Old Station may see increased smoke throughout the day, as fire in Lassen National Park as downslope winds bring smoke North. Increased fire activity from NW California fires experiencing some local red flag fire weather conditions may send smoke into the Sacramento Valley overnight.
Health and Safety:
Long-term smoke events usually have periods when the air is better. When air quality improves, even temporarily, air out your home to reduce indoor air pollution https://www.airnow.gov/sites/default/files/2021-07/reduce-your-smoke-exposure.pdf
