Critical Incident - Pembroke Avenue
October 10, 2026 – Kern County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on October 9, 2026, at approximately 1:10
a.m., a Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by Logan Reyes, age 18. Reyes stopped his vehicle in the 5400 block of Pembroke Avenue, then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
An officer involved shooting occurred.
Reyes was treated for injuries on scene and subsequently transported to a local hospital. Upon his release from the hospital, he was arrested and booked for evading, resisting arrest, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, firearm related charges, and possession of a controlled substance while armed.
No deputies or additional civilians were injured in the officer involved shooting.
KCSO Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to assume the investigation.
Kern County Sheriff's Office detectives investigate any use of deadly force by any member of the department. Investigations are submitted to the Kern County District Attorney's Office for criminal review.
